Artworks Of The Month: March

Hi There, How is it going?

First of all, I want to apologize for being sooooo late with this post, I mean, we're almost in the middle of the month but anyway, here I am and I'm proud of what I've brought to show you today. Last month I worked on two projects that really made me extra happy although drawing these women was a lotta fun it was also a challenge specially drawing Marielle. I hope you like them!

1. Carmen Miranda (Actress&Singer)

Carmen Miranda (born Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha, February 9, 1909 – August 5, 1955), was a Portuguese-born Brazilian samba singer, dancer, Broadway actress, and film star who was popular from the 1930s to the 1950s. Nicknamed "The Brazilian Bombshell", Miranda is noted for her signature fruit hat outfit she wore in her American films. As a young woman, she designed hats in a boutique before making her first recordings with composer Josué de Barros in 1929. Miranda's 1930 recording of "Taí" ("Pra Você Gostar de Mim"), written by Joubert de Carvalho, catapulted her to stardom in Brazil as the foremost interpreter of samba.

2. Marielle Franco (Brazilian Councilwoman)

Marielle Franco - born Marielle Francisco da Silva; 27 July 1979 – 14 March 2018) was a Brazilian politician, feminist, and human rights activist. After earning a master's degree in public administration from the Fluminense Federal University, she served as a city councillor of the Municipal Chamber of Rio de Janeiro for the Socialism and Liberty Party(PSOL) from January 2017 until her death.

On 14 March 2018, while in a car after delivering a speech, Franco and her driver were shot multiple times and killed by two murderers in another vehicle, North in Rio de Janeiro. Franco had been an outspoken critic of police brutality and extrajudicial killings, as well as the February 2018 federal intervention by Brazilian president Michel Temer in the state of Rio de Janeiro which resulted in the deployment of the army in police operations.
