Artworks Of The Month: January 2019

Hi everybody!
How's everyone doing?

This month was so crazy, I've done so many things that I can't even count 'em... therefore I didn't have as much time as I'd have liked to sit down and drawn, however I worked on three different artworks and I hope you like the outcome, I certainly do.

1. Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate. She is known for human rights advocacy, especially the education of women and children in her native Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northwest Pakistan, where the local Taliban had at times banned girls from attending school. Her advocacy has grown into an international movement, and according to former Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, she has become "the most prominent citizen" of the country.

2. Courtney Act

Shane Gilberto Jenek (born 18 February 1982), better known under the stage name Courtney Act, is an Australian drag queen, pop singer, entertainer and reality television personality. Jenek first came to prominence, as Courtney, competing on the first season of Australian Idol in 2003. After the show she released their debut single, "Rub Me Wrong", which peaked at No. 29 on the ARIA Singles Chart. In 2003, while auditioning for Australian Idol, he also became the first queer contestant to openly appear on a reality TV talent show. In 2014, Jenek was one of the runners-up in season six of RuPaul's Drag Race. In January 2018, Jenek appeared on season twenty one of Celebrity Big Brother and ultimately won the series with 49.43% of the final public vote. Jenek also began hosting The Bi Life, the UK's first bisexual reality dating show, on E!. In 2019, Act will appear as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.

3. Barack Obama
Barack Hussein Obama II is an American attorney and politician who served as the
44th president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the first African American to be elected to the presidency. He previously served as a senator from Illinois from 2005 to 2008. After winning re-election by defeating Republican opponent Mitt Romney, Obama was sworn in for a second term in 2013. During this term, he promoted inclusiveness for LGBT Americans. His administration filed briefs that urged the Supreme Court to strike down same-sex marriage bans as unconstitutional (United States v. Windsor and Obergefell v. Hodges); same-sex marriage was fully legalized in 2015 after the Court ruled that a same-sex marriage ban was unconstitutional in Obergefell. He advocated for gun control in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, indicating support for a ban on assault weapons, and issued wide-ranging executive actions concerning climate change and immigration. In foreign policy, he ordered military intervention in Iraq in response to gains made by ISIL after the 2011 withdrawal from Iraq, continued the process of ending U.S. combat operations in Afghanistan in 2016, promoted discussions that led to the 2015 Paris Agreement on global climate change, initiated sanctions against Russia following the invasion in Ukraine and again after Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections, brokered a nuclear deal with Iran, and normalized U.S. relations with Cuba. During his term in office, America's reputation in global polling significantly improved.

Well, that's all for today.

Hugs,

Douglas Migliassi
